Oh God, after looking around for my morning fashion encouragement I found a pair of writers that think the big thing for Men’s Fashion for the summer is Jelly Shoes! Personally I haven’t heard something so ridiculous in a long time and it just shows a lot of fashion minds are lacking inspiration at the moment. I made a stand adjacent to the men’s Ugg Boot a few weeks back and now it’s time to make a stand next to this as well.
Jelly shoes are for kids and middle matured women – those are the only people who can get away with wearing them and I feel powerfully about that. No fashion conscious or stylish man in his right mind would wear Jelly shoes (shown in the picture down). They look contemptible, the material is pretty much exactly what it says on the tin and the fact is I can’t stand the sight of them. No shape, no style and opposing to popular belief, they are not even that at ease!
I have seen movies of “cool†people wearing them with bright socks, thinking it makes them idiosyncratic and stand out. I can’t even realize this; you don’t wear socks with sandals, flip flops etc. but suddenly it’s OK to wear them with a pair of see through jelly shoes?! Give me a rupture!
So fellas, please stay away from the jelly shoes, and if you have to have a pair, please only put on them on your own in the soothe of your own home – like round a personal pool or in the shower. I can not think of anything I have read or seen in men’s fashion that I am more against in the last six months. If you need a great pair of shoes for the beach, for summer days or on holiday then go for a great fitting plain canvas shoe (think Superga or Converse). They are substantially cooler, look great with any outfit, lightweight, low cost and comfortable. You can still wear your bright socks and twist up your jeans with a low cut pair, so don’t resort to fashion jelly suicide!
