Air New Zealand Fashion Week is bringing in the big guns – with actress Pamela Anderson heading to Auckland in September to show her swimwear tag. Organizers of Air New Zealand Fashion Week announced today that Anderson would attend, along with designer Richie Rich, to show their new label cogitate on the runway. The range of swimwear, ready-to-wear and shoes is eco and mammal friendly. It’s the first time a US designer label will show at Fashion Week. Also presence will be MTV Asia presenter and former model Denise Keller. Keller is previously a fan of New Zealand designers and organizers hope that her company will help boost the outline of the event in Asia. Pieter Stewart, ANZFW Director acknowledged that the event would be challenging in the current economic climate.
“We recognized early on that 2009 was going to be an enormously challenging year for the fashion industry, so we have cut our cloth accordingly. If there is one thing we have learnt at Air New Zealand Fashion Week its to adapt and change in hard times.” Stewart said.
Some designers will put on joint shows this year to cut down on costs. Air New Zealand Fashion Week runs in Auckland from September 21-25, with the public event Fashion Weekend on September 25 and 26.
