Sitting gladly somewhere between fine art and viable design is Justin Giunta’s jewellery label Subversive Jewelry, which was newly awarded the CFDA’s Swarovski Emerging Talent Award for Accessory Design. The Pittsburgh-born Giunta subscribes to the Baroque idea that more is more, so his jewellery consists of layers upon layers of chains, pearls, coloured stones, plastic baubles and sharp metal components. As yet, his designs – counting this dramatic necklace from the Calder’s Circus collection – are not accessible in the UK, but you can shop from his site.
